
About Dr. Bent
Melissa Bent MD is a Jamaican born, American raised physician specializing in pediatric orthopedics. With a career dedicated to empowering young lives, Dr. Bent is not only a medical practitioner but also a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in medicine.
Her journey began with a childhood dream of becoming a doctor, inspired by her own experiences as baby born with clubfeet. She earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine and completing her pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco and fellowship training in Non Operative Pediatric Orthopedics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
As the author of “ABCs of Women in Medicine,” Dr. Bent combines her expertise in medicine with her passion for storytelling to celebrate the achievements of women in the field. Through this book, she aims to inspire young readers to dream big, break barriers, and realize their full potential, regardless of gender or background.
She is a mother and lives in Los Angeles.
